What is a state-of-the-art Website? Many would answer that by describing a site’s aesthetics, attention generation or incorporated “gee whiz” technology. All of these are, to be sure, important but I would contend that three key items supersede these:
- Meeting the site owner’s business objectives and goals for creating the site.
- Accomplishing the above site creation at the lowest possible cost.
- Creating a site that is sustainable and can evolve as the site owner’s needs evolve.
The above objectives are timeless but the methods of best achieving them are a rapidly changing technological challenge. Had I written this just a few short years ago, I’d have suggested a different direction. Today, though, there’s become a clear three-step process for creating the state-of-the-art Website that’s the almost indisputable path forward for the vast majority of small to medium sized businesses.
Step one is building the site on a Content Management System (CMS) framework!
